Czudec, Poland: Lists of Jewish Residents 1940-1942Introduction by Tony Kahane
IntroductionThis is an index of five lists of Jewish residents from Czudec, Poland from 1940-1942. It contains 1,215 records. German forces occupied Czudec in September 1939. While Czudec was a small town, Jews from the surrounding region were subsequently brought into the town in significant numbers. There was never a ghetto in Czudec. Instead, Jewish men and women were hired out as forced labor to private or municipal enterprises - including those involved in construction, road building and estate management. Several of these enterprises were based in the nearby town of Strzyzów. SourceThe database is a combination of five files from Fond 736, File numbers 14, 15, 17, 18, and 19. These lists deal mainly with forced labor and food rations, including rations of flour and kerosene. The records also state if the people named in them were working with the Judenrat. Most of the names extracted from the files in this database files are Jewish, though a few are probably not. The fields in the database include:
